Now, all these films for the UK tourism show, Wish You were Here...?, were filmed before DSLR and large chip cameras came about. So that meant you had to be very imaginative to get creative shots. The basic aim was to get a lot of high quality b-roll content from 10-12 locations over about four days. And you had to achieve that whatever the weather or the circumstances. We used filters and reflectors - but as we had to stay mobile, there wasn't room for excess gear!
It's a great discipline - and I recommend you practice this skill!
I worked with some great Directors, Presenters and Sound recordists on location. The production team in the office were also one of the best I ever had the privilege to work with.
